Business model of the UrbanGold Technology is the metallurgical treatment of the WEEE-concentrate in a production chain down to marketable products.

Generally, collection of end-of-life products is not part of the concept – therefore, an UrbanGold Facility does not deal with waste, but with secondary raw materials.

The mechanical pre-treatment to separate marketable metal and plastic fractions can be included to the concept in accordance with customer needs and site-specific boundary conditions.

Depending on the actual composition and character, the operator of a facility purchases raw materials from collection agencies, as well as from shredder and sorting facilities. Either a fixed tonnage price or purchasing based on the contained and exchange listed metals prices is applied. The purchasing conditions are subject of framework agreements – they might include discounts, treatment and refining charges (TC/RC), as well as penalties.

Main products of the UrbanGold Technology are metals – with a focus of the most valuable ones. Gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper and nickel can be sold as technically pure metals, some heavy metals as a concentrate. These products do not need any unique selling propositions. The value corresponds to the prices traded at and guaranteed from the corresponding metal exchange. However, there are several qualities of technically pure metals – when selling according to their price conditions, the appropriate parameters have to be met.
Besides the production of valuable metals, the technology offers the possibility of increasing the overall recycling rate by:
